Because last year’s Christmas Jar Outreach was so successful, we decided to repeat it this year. Once again, our church family collected their personal change in individual canning jars to save for our Christmas outreach. On December 18th, 2011 we all brought our jars to church, full of money, and prayed for God's leading to give them away to just the right person. People then went in all directions and gave away these precious gifts during the week leading up to Christmas.

The purpose of collecting our spare change came from a book called "The Christmas Jar", about a family that started a tradition of touching people with an act of kindness. We as a church wanted to touch people in a special way, a way we never had done before.

The Christmas jar gave us the ability to save for others, in a way that didn't feel like a burden and actually turned into a great delight. Read the great stories of encounters we had, and start your own plan to be a blessing to people you probably will never meet until Christmas.
