This new series is about learning how the first Christians grew in the faith in which the Jewish leaders professed "These men have turned the world upside down.” This study will be taken from four main things the believers engaged in that made them so effective. Acts 2:42
The title refers to a sailing concept of "Trimming Sails" which was all about learning how to catch the wind properly in order to power sail boats. Often believers love God but fail to live lives of empowerment because they have never learned how to allow the Holy Spirit to empower them in their daily lives.
We will learn four keys the early church discovered to grow their faith in an incredible way. Also, how they learned to follow his guidance and develop faith to move the mountains Jesus said we could move.

Life has a way of dishing out issues that hinder our walk with God that are like rocks in our shoes. They don't keep us from walking with God, but they sure keep us from walking in a way that we want or expect. In this series we will be looking at issues in our lives that cause our spiritual alignment to be off and thus frustrating us. We just can't seem to live the life God's word said we should be living. These issues don't affect our salvation but they sure affect our success and joy as believers.

The word "Faith" is used very freely in both the secular and the religious realms, but... is it the same for both? Is it just about putting our trust in something or someone because we feel good about it, or because the facts support doing so?
In this short series we will be exploring the concept of faith from a biblical perspective, and then we will try to unpack the concept to help us see how to gain the power Jesus promised us. I fear too many Christians claim to have faith, but all to often it ends up appearing to be just wishful thinking. As Christians, we need to see what the bible says about faith, so that we can move the mountains that Jesus promised all believers in Matthew 21:21

Visit almost any church today and if grace is brought up it's normally in the context of salvation. People are told it's God's "Unmerited Favor" for lost people. We couldn't earn God's favor and we just need to admit it. Unfortunately, this picture so distorts the picture that Paul and the early church believed. Yes, Grace is undeserved...but it is so much more than that. Yes, it is part of our salvation experience but it is meant to be enveloped in our everyday life.
